A bhikkhu (Pali, Sanskrit: bhikṣu) is an ordained monastic (“monk”) in Buddhism. A female monastic (nun) is called a bhikkhuni (Sanskrit bhikṣuṇī).
The lives of all Buddhist monastics governed by a set of rules called the prātimokṣa or pātimokkha. Their lifestyle is shaped to support their spiritual practice: to live a simple and meditative life and attain nirvana.
A person under the age of 20 cannot be ordained as a bhikkhu or bhikkhuni but can be ordained as a śrāmaṇera or śrāmaṇērī.

The Noble Eightfold Path (Pali: ariyo aṭṭhaṅgiko maggo, Sanskrit: āryāṣṭāṅgamārga) is one of the principal teachings of the Buddha, who described it as the way leading to the cessation of suffering (dukkha) and the achievement of self-awakening. It is used to develop insight into the true nature of phenomena (or reality) and to eradicate greed, hatred, and delusion. The Noble Eightfold Path is the fourth of the Buddha’s Four Noble Truths; the first element of the Noble Eightfold Path is, in turn, an understanding of the Four Noble Truths. It is also known as the Middle Path or Middle Way.
All eight elements of the Path begin with the word “right,” which translates the word samyañc (in Sanskrit) or sammā (in Pāli). These denote completion, togetherness, and coherence, and can also suggest the senses of “perfect” or “ideal.” ‘Samma’ is also translated as “wholesome,” “wise” and “skillful.”
In Buddhist symbolism, the Noble Eightfold Path is often represented by means of the dharma wheel (dharmachakra), whose eight spokes represent the eight elements of the path.

Gautama Buddha, also known as Siddhārtha Gautama, Shakyamuni, or simply the Buddha, was a sage on whose teachings Buddhism was founded. He is believed to have lived and taught mostly in eastern India sometime between the sixth and fourth centuries BCE.
The word Buddha means “awakened one” or “the enlightened one”. “Buddha” is also used as a title for the first awakened being in a Yuga era. In most Buddhist traditions, Siddhartha Gautama is regarded as the Supreme Buddha (Pali sammāsambuddha, Sanskrit samyaksaṃbuddha) of our age. Gautama taught a Middle Way between sensual indulgence and the severe asceticism found in the śramaṇa movement common in his region. He later taught throughout regions of eastern India such as Magadha and Kosala.

“Mantra” (/ˈmæntrə, ˈmɑːn-, ˈmʌn-/; Sanskrit: मन्त्र) means a sacred utterance, numinous sound, or a syllable, word, phonemes, or group of words believed by some to have psychological and spiritual power. A mantra may or may not have syntactic structure or literal meaning; the spiritual value of a mantra comes when it is audible, visible, or present in thought.
The earliest mantras were composed in Vedic times by Hindus in India, and those are at least 3000 years old. Mantras are now found in various schools of Hinduism, Buddhism, Jainism and Sikhism. Similar hymns, chants, compositions and concepts are found in Zoroastrianism, Taoism, Christianity and elsewhere.

The Four Noble Truths (Sanskrit: catvāri āryasatyāni; Pali: cattāri ariyasaccāni) are the truths of the Noble Ones, which express the basic orientation of Buddhism: this worldly existence is fundamentally unsatisfactory, but there is a path to liberation from repeated worldly existence. The truths are as follows:
1. The Truth of Dukkha is that all conditional phenomena and experiences are not ultimately satisfying;
2. The Truth of the Origin of Dukkha is that craving for and clinging to what is pleasurable and aversion to what is not pleasurable result in becoming, rebirth, dissatisfaction, and redeath;
3. The Truth of the Cessation of Dukkha is that putting an end to this craving and clinging also means that rebirth, dissatisfaction, and redeath can no longer arise;
4. The Truth of the Path Of Liberation from Dukkha is that by following the Noble Eightfold Path—namely, behaving decently, cultivating discipline, and practicing mindfulness and meditation—an end can be put to craving, to clinging, to becoming, to rebirth, to dissatisfaction, and to redeath.
The four truths provide a useful conceptual framework for making sense of Buddhist thought, which has to be personally understood or “experienced.” Many Buddhist teachers present them as the essence of Buddhist teachings, though this importance developed over time, substituting older notions of what constitutes prajna, or “liberating insight.”
In the sutras the four truths have both a symbolic and a propositional function. They represent the awakening and liberation of the Buddha, but also the possibility of liberation for all sentient beings, describing how release from craving is to be reached.

Rev Michael Carbone is a licensed Cosmetologist in the State of Florida, has an AA Degree in Computer Information System from HCC in Tampa, FL and has been working towards his BA Degree from USF.
Like many of you, Rev Michael has had many turns and changes in his life. He first received his calling 9 years ago to become a minister and was Ordained through the Universal Life Church. Rev Michael is one of those who is a naturally gifted Psychic, Medium being born with these abilities. He has even visited the other side as a guest and was informed of his life purpose which is steadily unfolding on a daily basis. Most of the information was hidden until the timing was right. He is a self taught Tarot Reader and Pendulist. Rev Michael is also attuned to Usui Reiki III as a Master/Teacher as well as many other modalities.
While working at a hair salon 4 years ago he came across many “teachers” who kept informing him that his true calling was not in the cosmetology profession but in a spiritual one. He kept questioning and asked the Universe/Higher Power for a clear sign that this is what his life purpose is. In July a few years back, never having called in sick from work before, he had a doctors note to rest for a few days so he can recover from the flue and was fired for calling in sick. Major wake up call and a true sign to take the leap of faith.
It has been a wonderful journey ever since and has lead to him forming Be The Light Metaphysical Chapel. Rev Michael started hosting a nightly on-line radio show on Blog Talk Radio to help those in need. In 2008 he also became a published author “Humanities Great Spiritual Awakeing…Are You Ready”.
At this time Rev Michael was also helping out at a local metaphysical chapel doing their Psychic Fairs as well as helping on occasion on their Messages From Spirit Night.
This is when things really took a turn for the better. While making himself available on a Saturday for those looking for a reading, Rev Michael had 2 of his friends show up. One he had known for a few years when he was a cosmetologist. The 3 of them were talking and they both asked Rev Michael if he ever thought of starting his own chapel.
Rev Michael had a parting of ways with the chapel he was involved in, and Be The Light Metaphysical was formed.
What started out in 2010 as an online presence has since grown into a gift shop at the USA Flea Market to help raise funds for the chapel as well as for Rev Michael to help people on their spiritual journey. In another turn of events, dozens of people each weekend were coming in all summer long and asking if there were any Metaphysical Chapels in the area. People were looking for some place different than what is already available out in the community. So in September 2011 Rev Michael was offered to expand to a bigger location at the flea market so that a physical chapel could be formed. After much consideration it was agreed upon that the money difference for expanding was not worth it for only 3 days a week from 9-4. So the search began and our current location was founded.

Before Christianity, same sex marriage was normal. Being gay was normal. Love between 2 consenting adults is what God accepts, there is a reason for it. In numerous cultures throughout early history, gay people were honored and treated as royalty for they felt that they were truly blessed by God. Their thought was that having the qualities of both sexes was a blessing.
Rev Michael received a message from his guides in regards to why God created gay people. God promised after the great flood to never again destroy mankind. We have taken the “be fruitful and multiply” too seriously and have over populated the world. We have polluted the air supply, cut down the forests, polluted the drinking water and treated nature poorly. We only have a limited supply of these natural resources and can only truly sustain a certain number of people. We have reached that sustainability. God decided that he can not break his promise but that something needed to be done. So he figured since we are going to be so fruitful that he will intervene a bit and create more gay people than there had been throughout history.
Most gay people do not have children and yet are a very productive part of society. Every walk of life. Every political affiliation. Every religion, nationality, race and every societal status has gay people.
Because we know that God does not make mistakes, God only creates love, we at Be The Light accept and honor same sex marriage. We will bless and marry any couple looking to commit their love in front of God and their family and friends.
On June 29’th this year, we will have a contingency at the St Petersburg Gay Pride Parade. We are looking for couples who want to get married during the event. We will marry you at NO COST!
Depending on how the Supreme Court decides in June it will either be an act of civil disobedience OR it will be an actual legal wedding ceremony. Either way you will receive a Marriage Certificate from us that you can proudly display for all to see. This event will be a first of it’s kind during St Pete Pride and we are hoping to do this on a yearly basis.
If you want to take part in this great event – contact Rev Michael Carbone or call the center for more information.
